Welcome to Karla’s Massage & Bodywork in Reno, Nevada.

Body, mind and spirit can benefit from receiving massage therapy. My mission as a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) is to help you feel good and either keep doing or get back to doing what you love to do! Each session is customized to meet your unique needs or address issues you are experienging and help you to walk away feeling better than when you came in.

I am always committed to my personal growth and education as a massage therapist. In June of 2023 I also became a personal trainer so that I could expand my depth of knowledge to recommend exercises to enhance your massage treatments. I love to use the knowledge I have gained to acheive better results for my clients. I can help you rebuild the fundamental base of mobility by either doing correcting exercises or working out tight over used muscles.

My specialty is a medium to deep pressure with some sports massage and acupressure. I offer modalities such as:

  • Deep Tissue Massage: A medium to firm pressure massage. It works deeper in the muscle. Perfect for those with particularly tight muscles and who need a little deeper pressure.
  • Sports Massage: A deep tissue massage with stretching, focusing on specific areas or muscle groups and aid in athletic performance and recovery.
  • Prenatal Massage: Massage throughout pregnancy after 12 weeks, provided it is not high risk or a doctors will be required. Can help to release some of the aches and pains of pregnancy.
  • Cranial Sacral Massage: Also known as craniosacral therapy (CST), is a gentle massage technique that uses light touch to relieve tension and promote healing in the body. It involves applying pressure to the head, neck, and spine to help restore balance to the nervous system and surrounding structures.
  • Lymphatic Massage: Also known as lymphatic drainage or manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), is a gentle massage technique that helps move lymph fluid throughout the body.

Additional therapies and techniques I can offer:

  • Reiki: A Japanese healing technique that uses gentle touch to promote relaxation and well-being. The word "reiki" comes from the Japanese words rei, which means universal, and ki, which means a flow of lifeforce energy.
  • Sound Therapy: The use of tuning forks in intervals, one at each ear, produces an organized wave of expansion and contraction throughout the body. This occurs at all levels helping our body to relax deeply. This relaxed state helps our body to regenerate and our energy system to balance and align.
  • Cupping: Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which we put special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.
  • Kinesiology Tape: The Kinesiology tape is a taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting.
  • Breast Massage: The massage will lead to improved circulation thereby toning up the fat tissues and tightening them hence preventing sagging. Some women may feel some discomfort and tension around the breast area when approaching menstruation.  We need regular breast massage for healthy breast tissue. The improved circulation of blood around this area will relieve pain. Also helps with any breast surgery pain and scaring.
  • TMJ/Jaw therapy: This helps relieve tension in and around your the Jaw by work the neck, facial muscles and in mouth work.
  • Cold Stone Therapy: The use of the cold stones helps injury and recovery (aiding reduction in inflammation, pain and swelling. The use of the stones helps to get deeper into the muscles where needed therefore great in combination with a sports massage. Reduce DOMS & fatigue of muscles. Reduce stress and anxiety.
  • Muscle Activation: Works with the nervous system to check strengths and weaknesses in muscle groups and reactivate those muscles by restoring the signals of that muscle to the brain.
